LUNAR LATHER
How to Play

Atari 2600, 4K. Newbroo Games.

Dirty spaceships are parked over the Moon, and you're the spaceman with
the bubble gun. Wash every block of the hull clean before the time bar
runs out.

There's one catch: your spaceman has no jetpack. Every bubble you fire
pushes you backwards, and that push is the only way you can move.

CONTROLS
--------

Joystick (left port)

Left / Right ....... Turn the spaceman (16 directions)
Button ............. Fire a bubble (hold it to keep firing)
  Up / Down .......... Nothing

Driving controller (left port): each click of the knob turns him one
direction, and the button fires. Just plug it in. The game notices the
knob the first time you turn it, and there's nothing to set.

Up to three bubbles can be in flight at once.

MOVING AROUND
-------------

  - To move, aim the gun AWAY from where you want to go and fire.
  - To slow down or stop, turn around and fire the other way.
  - Each shot adds a little speed, so a few quick shots get you moving
and a few the other way bring you back to a stop.
  - You float in front of the ship, so you can fly right over it.
  - Watch the edges of the screen (see EASY AND HARD below).

WASHING A SHIP
--------------

  - Dirty blocks are the ship's dark shade. A bubble that hits one
    washes it bright.
  - Wash every block and the ship glows and fades away to a little tune.
You stop where you are, and the next ship comes in.
  - There are 20 ships, from the small Rocket to the huge Mothership.
After the 20th, the first comes back.

EASY AND HARD (left difficulty switch)
--------------------------------------

The left difficulty switch picks the game. You can change it at any
time.

B: EASY (Stella starts here)
  - Bubbles fly over washed blocks and pop on the first dirty one.
  - The screen edges stop you. Stay on an edge for 1 second and you
lose a life. He blinks and a low buzz warns you.

A: HARD
  - Bubbles pop on the first hull block they hit, washed or not.
  - Flying into an edge loses a life.

On Hard you have to line up a clear shot at the dirt, so you need to get
close. A bubble that pops on a block that's already clean makes a tick.

SCORE, LIVES AND TIME
---------------------

  - 10 points for each block you wash.
  - The time bar (bottom right) has 8 cells and shrinks as you play.
Bigger ships get more time. When you finish a ship you get 100
points for each cell left, up to 800. If the bar runs out, you only
lose the bonus and play goes on. A short tune tells you it's gone.
  - You start with 3 lives. Your spare lives are the white blocks at the
    bottom left.
  - You get an extra life every 10,000 points, with a chime, up to 5
    lives at once.
  - If you lose a life, you tumble through the stars and come back in
the middle. The ship keeps everything you've washed.
  - When your last life is gone, it's game over. Press the button to
    return to the title.

CONSOLE SWITCHES
----------------

Reset .................. Start a new game (from the title too)
Button (on the title) .. Start a game
Color / B&W ............ B&W pauses the game, Color resumes.
The 7800's Pause button works too.
  Left difficulty ........ A = Hard, B = Easy (above)
  Right difficulty ....... The bubble gun's sound: A a bloop, B a puff
  Select ................. Not used

PLAYING IN STELLA
-----------------

  F2 ........ Reset
  F3 / F4 ... Color / B&W (B&W pauses)
  F5 / F6 ... Left difficulty A (Hard) / B (Easy)
  F7 / F8 ... Right difficulty A (bloop) / B (puff)

Stella starts with both difficulty switches on B, which is the Easy game.

To use the driving controller, open Game Properties, Controllers, and
set Left to Driving. The arrow keys then turn the knob and Space fires.

TIPS
----

  - Short bursts work better than holding the button down. Speed builds
up fast and takes just as long to lose.
  - Before you fire, check which way the shot will push you, especially
    near an edge.
  - On Hard, a bubble stops at the first block it reaches. Float right
over the dirt you're after, or find a line to it with nothing clean
    in the way.
