Lunar Lather Deluxe
Lunar Lather Deluxe is complete. It's Lunar Lather cranked up to 11. Or 9...or something. I don't know, but I like it. It has:
- 50 ships
- Simultaneous two-player action
- A space booger that dirties the ship.
- Solar flares and solar winds
- More music, more animation.
- A cutscene
- ...and a whole lot of game options to customize the game.
I plan on releasing it as a physical cart once I get Specimen figured out. In the meantime, check out the scaled-down version which is available for free on this site.
Trick or Treat
This game is about 80% complete.
- The gist is you go trick or treating and collect candy.
- Your candy is your ammo.
- Fifty-six unique monsters attack from the ground and the sky.
- 96 houses per neighborhood (level) with 10 levels
- 10 unique, scary bosses
- Digital voices added, which was a mistake but I'm having a hard time compromising.
It's overly ambitious. I was trying to get it released before Halloween, but it's too grand in scope. I originally targeted the 3E+ scheme (64K ROM, 32K RAM), but it's not going to fit with everything I want. I'm either going to have to go with 3PO or refactor the entire thing with a different scheme that will work with more consoles.
Centauri Valet
I haven't even started this one, but I have the idea and I think it's going to be fun. Stay tuned for more news. I'm targeting the Mattel E7 scheme (16K ROM/2K RAM, Burgertime uses it. So does Lunar Lather Deluxe) and the cartridge should play on 2600+ consoles.
Zombie Dawn
Is not abandoned. Level 1 is 95% done. Just 7 or 8 more levels to go. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. I don't work on this game everyday because it's an extreme challenge and I get distracted, but I will continue to work on it until it's done. It will be epic. It's going to have to use the 3PO scheme. A lot of it is riding on the Wild Cart hardware that will provide it with as much ROM as it needs. It's going to be big. Probably the largest Atari 2600 game ever released. It has to be fun, though...and so far, I think it is.
New Atari PCB plans on Github
My 4k-256K bank switch cart is now available on Github. It's 6 components to solder, beginner-friendly and supports standard 4K as well as F8, F6, F4, EF, DF and BF schemes (8K,16K,32K,64K,128K,256K, respectively.) This version does not support the SARA superchip. I have another board that I'm working on that does support the superchip and I will be releasing that soon. I wanted to keep it as easy as possible for beginners to build, but that's a tall order when you start incorporating RAM onto one of these boards at 5V.
2K-4K PCB
Additionally, there's another 2K/4K only PCB available on Github. This one has four easily soldered components. Very beginner-friendly. If you need a 2K/4K PCB, this one uses parts that are still in production and can be soldered in just a couple of minutes.
Specimen Update
I just received the boxes and box inserts yesterday, 10/29. I am waiting on some more hardware (namely the Wild Cart) and I have to get the shells 3D printed. It's all in motion and will happen soon. I have enough hardware, on hand, to ship the first 25 carts by probably next week.
